City Lights is a three-track instrumental EP from Sonic Skillz inspired by the atmosphere of city streets after dark. Blending elements of hip hop, R&B, and jazz, the project captures the quieter side of urban life through reflective melodies, relaxed rhythms, and cinematic arrangements. Each composition offers a different perspective on the sights, sounds, and emotions of a late-night walk through the city.
A Street Corner Story opens the EP with a jazz-influenced, cinematic sound, setting the scene through its instrumentation and arrangement. After Hours follows with smooth R&B grooves and carries a particularly personal significance as the first piece Sonic Skillz worked on following a difficult loss. Nights Like These closes the collection with a blend of hip hop rhythms and soulful melodies, rounding out the EP’s late-night atmosphere.
With its blend of mellow grooves, cinematic textures, and understated arrangements, City Lights offers a cohesive listening experience that captures the mood of the city after dark. Whether enjoyed during a late-night drive or a quiet moment of reflection, the EP provides a soundtrack for slowing down and taking in the world around you.
