The Future EP puts the lyricism and commanding delivery of longtime Urbanizm Music emcee Khakolak Boy in the spotlight. Released in 2013, the project showcases his versatility as a writer and performer, pairing confident, sharply delivered verses with production that draws from both traditional and contemporary hip-hop influences.
Among the highlights are My Baby, a smooth, heartfelt track, and Life and Times, a reflection on ambition, perseverance, and the experiences that shape his perspective. The latter also earned praise from production duo Cool & Dre, who compared the song to vintage Jay-Z. Behind the boards, Khakolak Boy joins a production lineup featuring Jaguar, Side Effekt, One-Take, Anno Domini Beats, B-Lyn, and Sonic Skillz, while labelmate T-Dub contributes guest vocals.
As Khakolak Boy’s debut solo project, The Future EP offers a focused introduction to his abilities as an emcee. With its varied production, personal subject matter, and emphasis on lyricism, the project highlights the qualities that make him a distinctive voice within the Urbanizm Music roster.
